Housing Estates
Danish architect Jorn Utzon believed that the basic elements of lived space become present: the earth, the sky and the `between` of human existence.”
Studio Negri admires Utzon's profound appreciation of nature and diversity of human cultures, as sources of inspiration and analogy, combined with a sense of architecture as art and an innovative approach to the use of technology.
The single story developments have wonderful aspect - they are well considered with good layouts, well proportioned, and the different angles relate well to each other. The developments all each unit and the surrounding area to be in structural harmony.

At the Kingo housing development 63 houses were built within cost restrictions set up by the government to keep the costs below a certain level for low income workers. The 63 houses were built in rows following the undulations of the site, providing a specific view for each house, as well as the best situation possible for sunlight and shelter from the wind.
Utzon likes to describe the arrangement of the houses as
like flowers on the branch of cherry tree, each turning toward the sun

The individual houses are L-shaped with a living room and study in one section, and the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom in the other. Walls of varying heights closed the remaining open sides of the L shape
In Fredensborg, North Zealand, Denmark, Fredensborg, North Zealand, Denmark, Jorn Utzon designed a housing development with 47 courtyards and 30 terraced houses. The terraced houses were grouped around a square in staggered blocks of three, with all entrances from the square.

The basic concept of Terrasserne" is a simple architectural design varied and staggered with the ground conditions in a landscaped setting. The homes were built of tiles and wood, traditional Danish materials. Utzon originally called the concept "private life".

His aim was to balance private space with scope for community life in the public areas. The residents can spend time together or alone as they please. Terrasserne is an early example of "close and low" housing architecture. "
