This pair of F rated houses form part of an eclectic mix of terraces along Heytesbury Lane. Dating from the early 70’s, the one bedroom houses are 3,5 metres wide internally. Front and rear double storey extensions were added, as space is a premium in this area. Two gable walls, the party wall and timber floors were retained along with the natural stone boundary walls.

 

Retrofit measures included the following: Mitsubishi Ecodan air to water heat pump, under-floor heating on 150mm rigid insulation to ground floor, 100mm internal dry-lining insulation, airtightness measures, cecentralized heat recovery system, triple-glazed windows, LED lights throughout. The utility room is below the stairs in a well insulated half basement in the centre of the houses to ensure efficient pipe runs. The Building Energy Rating of A1 is set to be achieved within the next few weeks when the second house is complete.
